Missing Poetry 思詩

I believe that our memories and experiences are the most meaningful parts of our lives. We are born without possessions, and we leave this world with nothing. Inevitably, our bodies return to nature, just like flowers merge with soil after blossoming. With the passage of time, there is no way to go back to a moment once it has passed.

We are shaped by our past experiences, feelings, and reactions. I hold these formative experiences dear, because I value how they have shaped me. I celebrate what makes me different and know others will relate.

My work is rooted in the formal traditions of metalsmithing. I create objects that reflect on elements from everyday life through piercing, forming, and other methods of hand fabrication.

By using organic material, natural formations, and filigree techniques, I embed symbolism from Chinese culture and my understanding of the world in my work. My past experiences that I commemorate in this body of work have deeply impacted me and formed me into the person I am today. Each piece represents a moment, a certain feeling, or a part of myself that is responsible for revealing parts of my identity as an individual, a daughter, and a foreigner.
